We're back! EAT & GREET AT CITY MARKET III
WE'RE BACK! AND WHILE WELLINGTON ON A PLATE FEELS ,OH SO LONG AGO, I REMEMBER IT ALL TOO WELL. It was A HAZE OF THAT UNCOMFORTABLY FULL FEELING. CONFIT TO COFFEE, POSSOM TO POUSSIN - I ATE LIKE I'VE NEVER EATEN BEFORE. IT ALL STARTED WITH HOPS A PLENTY AT BEERVANA AND ENDED WITH ME desperately trying to find change down the back of the couch for one Last Oyster.
I don't think at any point I ever really felt hungry - I just found myself eating from social cues or some sort of Pavlovian response. A lot happened during those two weeks and in the weeks since, which I'll update you on in the next post (coming soon, I promise). Hopefully I'll get to post that video of the time I had to speak for 6 minutes 40 seconds in front of 550 people, straight after a politician whose job it is talk in front of that many people. Probably the most terrified I've ever been, but also one of the most rewarding things I've done.
After changing jobs, moving house, weddings and some very exciting news in the Brash family (more on THAT later also), Alice and I took a bit of a step back from the blog. But we are cranking up for the summer and I'd love for you to join me back in the City Market kitchen again for round three or, as I'll be calling it: 'EAT AND GREET ALL STARS'.
Falafel Love: Eat & Greet with Elie Assaf from Phoenician Falafel
There is a tradition in the Assaf household - every Sunday they meet up for a traditional family feast of Lebanese food. Well, on Sunday 15 September, come down to the City Market and become one of the family. With a mixture of demonstration and hands-on opportunities, Elie will take you through some quintessential Lebanese dishes, including Phoenician Falafel's famous falafel and ultra-smooth hummus.

Worth Millions: Eat & Greet with Tommy Millions
Learn from Mr Millions how to make a perfect pizza pie. Tom will take you through all the stages of making pizza at home, from the dough, to rolling it out (maybe we'll even try our hands at twirling it), the toppings and getting a deliciously crusty base - no wood oven required.
We'll all share our pizzas and a glass of wine, and I'll coax stories from Tom about his time working the ovens in New York and his grandma's freshly baked bread.
10 - 11.30am, Sunday 20 October at The City Market. - $50
All about balance: Eat & Greet with Nikki Chung
South East Asian cooking is all about a perfect balance between those four oh-so-important flavours - Salty, Sweet, Sour and Spicy. We all know that incredible tastebud-popping sensation when they are all in alignment, but will also recognise that face pucker when they aren't. Learn from City Market darling Nikki Chung from NAM Restaurant where each of the four S flavours come from and how to treat each one, as well as some secret tips on using your ingredients at home to create that perfect balance.
In this hands-on class you'll learn to make a Vietnamese classic - Summer Rolls, their (perfectly balanced) dipping sauce, as well as a fresh Vietnamese salad.
